Extra Infro about Google Classroom

Hello 3rd Graders,
This morning I received this tid-bit from a parent about uploading items from your phone (and possibly your iPad; they hadn't tried that yet, so they weren't positive at the time) to google Classroom. You can find the "YOUR WORK" on your phone classroom app. It is on the bottom if anyone wants to do it that way.

Miss Ploederl said she sent out an email to all of you yesterday with how to upload items to Classroom. I didn't receive it, so let me know what is working, what isn't, what's helpful, etc. I can put all of them onto here or Classroom for everyone to see in one spot.

Good Morning 3rd Graders,

I just want to give a quick update about Google Classroom. Make sure you check all three classes for assignments or announcements. Also, the attendance question will only be in the Math Google Classroom; make sure you answer that every day we have class.

I will put the answers for the Disney Question up this afternoon.

I see that all of you were able to log in and answer your attendance question on Google Classroom. It appears that most of you have already completed the math assignment that was assigned today; great job!

I have gotten a few questions as to how to upload and turn in your assignment for Questions 13-15. I looked on google and found this article/link: https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6020285?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

Hopefully this helps you load future assignments. If it doesn't can everyone who uploaded their assignment, please comment with how they uploaded their questions for 13-15?

Here is a gym assignment from Miss. LeClair (Miss Ploederl also posted this in her blog post):

Miss Peters' Friday Check In

Hello 3rd Graders,

After hearing back from most of you, some of you still need a little more time to complete your science projects. The new due date for your project is Friday, April 10, 2020. This means I need to have all of your completed worksheets and a picture of what your completed project parts look like sent to me in an email. If you have chosen to video tape (record) your presentation, please send it to me so I can post it onto the blog or Google Classroom (I'll try both). All parts have to be to me by 12pm on Friday, April 10, 2020 so I can see that it is completed. At 1:30pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 we will have a Google Meets video call because a few students have chosen to present their projects live.

What Miss Peters needs by 12pm on Friday, April 10, 2020 (via email)

  • Scanned or picture copy of your completed worksheets
  • Scanned or picture copy of your completed Circle book
  • Picture of your completed poster
  • Picture of your completed 3D planet
Where you are at:
Evelyn is half done and is going to videotape her presentation.
Iley needs more time and is going to present her presentation live.
Onnie is almost done, but needs a little more time. She is going to videotape her presentation.
Nick is done, he just needs some practice time before videotaping his presentation.

*If you finish your project before Friday, April 10, 2020 you may send me everything early.*

Miss Peters' Thursday Check In

Hello 3rd Graders!

Questions for you about science project.
1. How far are you on your projects?
Please let me know by tonight so I can see if our original due date of April 6th is enough time.

2. Would you like to record yourself presenting your project, which I will post on the blog for your classmates to see? OR Would you like to have a video call with me and your classmates and present it live?
In the presentation I would like to see both the poster you created and the 3D planet you created. They do not have to be shown at the same time if it is too hard to display/hold them.

3. How should you send me your project parts?

  1. Send me a picture of your finished projects (poster, 3D planet model, and circle book).
  2. Record or present your project live (we will choose once I hear from everyone).
  3. Scan and send me all the papers/worksheets you had to complete.
  4. Your Circle Book you can scan a copy of all the finished parts if it doesn't break. Otherwise you can bring it to me on our school drop off date.
4.When is the school drop off date?
I will determine this after I hear how far everyone is on their projects. As of right now the project due date (which includes presenting it) is NEXT Monday, April 6, 2020.
Mrs. Cowart is having a pickup/drop off day at school on April 16th, so you could drop the projects off then or we could do one earlier so your projects do not get ruined or misplaced.

Please comment your answers and any questions you have.

How far is everyone getting on their Science Project? Is next Monday, April 6 okay for the projects to be due or do you need more time? I know Miss Ploederl sent home a book report for you to do too, so I want to make sure you have enough time to get them both done. When is Miss Ploederl's book report due? Miss Peters' Google Classroom Testing Post Update

Hello Parents & 3rd Graders,

I was given all of the students' school emails and have entered them into Google Classroom. I have set up three (3) different classes- one for Math, one for Science, and one for Social Studies. Each class has its own class code. I'll put each code below because I'm not sure if you will still need that since I have invited you (your students with the emails I was sent from Mrs. Cowart) to classes already. Please check your (parent's) emails for the three different codes. Please let me know if the codes along with the emails that I have entered work. If you are able to get in answer the sample question under the math class so I can see how answers are submitted and how I can "grade" you on this sample assignment.

Don't forget to update me on how your science projects are coming along! (I did mention this in my Tuesday Check In post below this one.)

Have a wonderful day!

Best wishes,

Miss Peters

Good morning everyone,
Today I would like you to go to Storyline online and listen to the story Carla's Sandwich.  The link is listed below.  Listen to the story, and then describe for me what your unique sandwich would be.  If you make your sandwich send me pictures of it.

I also want to remind you to be reading on Raz.  I am checking how you are doing.  Here is my challenge to you.  If you read five stories on five different days and get 100 on the quiz the first time you take it I will move you up a level.  Remember I get a report saying how you are doing each time you take the test.  Good luck!https://www.storylineonline.net/

Pet Entertainment!

Dear 3rd Grade Friends!

With all the extra time at home I get to spend more time with my cat April Skye. She is almost 3 years old! She loves to play and entertain herself if no one wants to play or is unable to play because they are busy working on something. I thought it would be fun to post pictures or videos, or stories of our pets. If you have a pet please share in the comments section or through email any fun stories, pictures, or videos.

April was helping me grade your Math Graphs the other day.

She loves to bask in the sun. She found a very sunny spot on the futon in the sun room.

Stay healthy and enjoy the family time! Continue to send me pictures and stories of what you are all doing at home with your families, as well as updates on where you are with your science project! I miss you all!

Miss Peters's March 20 (21st) Check In

Hello 3rd Graders!

I forgot to post on here yesterday. How are all of you doing? It's barely been a week and I miss all of you so much already! How are your science projects coming? Has everyone been able to open the power point through one of the ways I sent it? Please comment and/or email me with your responses.

I have checked with Mrs. Cowart and it sounds like Mr. Evers (or maybe I) have to get your school email address linked to Google Classroom in order for it to work; I'll continue to check into that and get back to all of you on that.

Someone shared with me a fun Science "Weather School" program you may like to tune into Starting Monday at 10am with Steve Beylon from WBAY News! If you tune into it please leave a comment or email me with how it was!

Here's a link, but I'm not sure if it will work:

Miss Peters's 3/19/2020 Check In

Hello Everyone!
I have attached in an email to parents the Solar System Power Point because I'm not sure if the link to open it that is on the blog is working, or if the people who have asked for access to open it is working when I grant access to it.
I will look into more tutorials and information on how to get Google Classroom working, because I received many emails that the class code was not working.

Reminders
Please remember to email me your "How Rich Are the Leprechauns?" Pictograph worksheet.
If you had a test sent home please complete and email it to me by tomorrow, Friday, March 20, 2020.

Miss Peters's Fun "Challenge"!

Dear 3rd Graders!
I would like you to try out this fun challenge in your own way. If you can do it similar to the video that is fine, but if you don't live near streets make it up! This is just for fun and to fill in extra time you have. Please send me a video of it after you have tried it so I can see what you came up with; if possible I'll try to share the videos with the class for everyone to see.

Miss Peters's March 18th Check In

Hello 3rd Graders!

It is definitely different not seeing you at school! Miss you dearly already. Has anyone completed any of the fun St. Patrick's items that were sent home on Monday? Remember these are just for fun and do not have to be returned back to me, with the exception of the Pictograph worksheet. Once you have finished that one either send me a picture of it through email or bring it back to school so I can see how you did on it.

Have any of you started with your science project yet? How are they going? Learning lots of information about your planet? Comment in the comments section or email me to update me on how the projects are going.

Science Project
Each student chose a planet to research. Below is a list of the planet they chose; if they were absent on Monday I assigned a planet for them.
Nick- Earth
Journey- Mercury
Ella- Venus
Onnie- Saturn
Iley- Mars
Jackson- Uranus
Maximo-Pluto
Elliot- Jupiter
Evelyn- Neptune

Link for Solar System Power Point from Heart2HeartLearning.com

*If the links don't work let me know so I can email them to you. I've never tried posting a link before; first time for everything.*

As of now projects are due April 6th; keep watching for a later date. I'll let you know how you will have to present if we have to do it online. As of right now that is how it is looking.

*A note for 3rd graders and Parents*
I've been trying to work ahead and get a Google Classroom started. I have been successful (hopefully; fingers crossed) in creating an assignment that I would like you to respond to so I can see if it works or not. I've just started trying it out so I'm not sure how it will go. I'll email all parents the class code so you can join Miss Peters's 3rd Grade Google Classroom. Try to do this as soon as possible so I know if it works. Thank you! :)

Have a wonderful evening, continue to work hard, and enjoy the extra family time!

Best wishes,

Miss Peters

February

Religion:

We are  preparing for Lent.  The students have decided what they are going to do for Lent and have written it in their cocoon and placed the cocoon on the tree on our religion board.  Hopefully our sacrifices during Lent will turn into beautiful butterflies, a sign of new life in Jesus.

December

Time sure flies when we're having fun, 2019 is almost done!

December has been a very busy month! We had play practice many times a week and last night the kids finally showed off their hard work. They all did an excellent job! Today we will celebrate with the Christmas movie, Klaus, and a little Christmas cheer before our Christmas break!

During December we continued working on multiplication in math; we will continue with this in the new year. Shortly after we will dive into Division.

In the afternoons we created projects for each of the countries the students visited in the morning for our Christmas Around the World Unit.

For Science and Social Studies we read a couple Scholastic News Articles. When we get back from break we will start a Landforms Unit.

*Sorry for the late posting on this post. I completely forgot to submit it to the blog.*

Sunday, January 26, 2020

January 2020

MATH
We have finished the introduction chapters of Multiplication and have started the introduction chapters of Division. Students will continue to complete Sweet Treat Multiplication quizzes. Students will complete quizzes up to x12; after they finish x12 they have the option of going up to x15 or switching to division quizzes.

SCIENCE
We have been learning about the world's landforms and natural hazards. We will be doing an experiment to show how erosion works as well as watching a volcano eruption.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We are learning more information about the world's landforms and about different communities in our world.

ART
Students created a silhouette snow-globe of pine trees by using white chalk on black construction paper. The outside of the snow-globe was to be "pulled" to create a white snow-dusting background.

To help cheer on the Packers we had a Packer Party! As a class we created paper cheese heads, the students created Packer Songs to tunes of well-known Christmas songs, and they had a dance party to different songs that were recreated to Packer style. Many of the students brought in yummy treats or juice for the class to snack on during the party.
